The District's Holiday Season, and the Bridge Rising Over Green Valley Parkway

Concrete columns are now standing on both sides of Green Valley Parkway, just south of the 215 Beltway. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Road Warrior column, they are the first visible parts of a pedestrian bridge. The bridge will cross the parkway and connect the two halves of The District at Green Valley Ranch. The bridge belongs to a $160 million Beltway widening that started in May 2025. As of October 5, 2026, the project was just under 50 percent complete and on budget.

For Roma Hills households in MacDonald Ranch, the timing works out well. Every major event on The District's fall and holiday calendar happens before the heaviest work on Green Valley Parkway begins. The bridge goes up over the road in spring 2027, and the interchange rebuild starts right after that. Between now and December, The District runs its busiest season on the road layout it has always had, apart from some lane restrictions that are mostly overnight.

What the Columns Become

The City of Henderson describes the full I-215 project as adding two lanes in each direction between Pecos Road and Stephanie Street. It also adds turn lanes at Pecos, Green Valley Parkway, Valle Verde Drive and Stephanie. Two pieces of the project change daily life around The District:

  • The pedestrian bridge at Village Walk Drive. The city calls this a crossing over "a heavily trafficked intersection, where traffic often backs up in both directions." The Review-Journal reports that it will carry pedestrians and cyclists between the two sides of the shopping center without meeting traffic, and that it will link up the 215 Beltway Trail.
  • A diverging diamond interchange. The Green Valley Parkway overpass above the 215 will become a diverging diamond, a design that lets drivers turn left onto freeway on-ramps without stopping.

The city expects the whole project to be finished in mid-2028. The finished product will make The District easier to reach. Getting there means two or three seasons of work, and the next three months fall at the quiet end of that schedule.

The Calendar, With the Construction Dates Added

The table below puts The District's posted fall and holiday events next to the construction milestones the Review-Journal reported. All events take place at 2240 Village Walk Drive, at I-215 and Green Valley Parkway. The event dates come from The District's own listings, which can change, so check the event page before you go.

The events are a mix of regular fixtures and one-time draws. The farmers market runs every Thursday with seasonal produce. Makers Hive is a free, family-friendly and dog-friendly market of local vendors with crafts and photo spots. Market in the Alley brings in local makers, artists, musicians and food vendors. Monster Mash includes trick-or-treating, vendors, entertainment and children's costume contests. The tree lighting on November 21 comes with snowfall, holiday music, artisan vendors and Santa.

The project engineer has already said the bridge-setting closures will be scheduled around the shopping center. Kevie Remynse told the Review-Journal that the team will "give as much notice as possible" to the public and nearby stakeholders "to make sure that we don't hit it on a busy weekend."

Getting There This Season

Lane restrictions are already in place around The District. The project's construction update dated October 1, 2026 covers the weeks of October 4 and 11 and lists the following conditions near the shopping center:

  1. Green Valley Parkway, Corporate Circle to south of Village Walk Drive: work on the bridge structure, traffic signals and NV Energy lines, with lane restrictions. The parkway may drop to one lane at night, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  2. Pedestrians on that stretch: detoured to the northbound side of Green Valley Parkway.
  3. I-215 ramps at Green Valley Parkway and Valle Verde Drive: ramp realignment, retaining walls and related work, with lane restrictions.
  4. The Beltway itself: speed limit reduced to 55 mph through the work zone.

The bulletin limits these impacts to Sunday night through Friday morning. Nearly every event in the table is a daytime market or ends by 8 p.m., and most of the Main Street events fall on Saturdays, so they sit outside the overnight restriction window in that bulletin. The pedestrian detour matters more. Until the bridge opens, walking between the two halves of The District means crossing on the northbound side. The Review-Journal reported on October 5 that no mainline Beltway closures were planned, though intermittent ramp closures would continue. New bulletins come out every few weeks at henderson215.com, and the most recent one is the most reliable guide.

A second project is underway closer to home. Henderson lists Carnegie Street improvements from Green Valley Parkway to Paseo Verde Parkway as under construction. The work includes buffered bike lanes, repaving, a pedestrian-activated flasher at the trail crossing and a new signal at Cozy Hill, with completion due by Q2 2027.

The Storefronts That Changed This Year

The District's tenant lineup has changed over the past year. In January 2026, Shopping Center Business reported that the center's owner, Vestar, had signed four new tenants. California Closets and Solidcore had both opened in December, and GLO30 and Evereve were still on the way. The District's listing for Evereve now says "Now open!" GLO30's status is less clear. The center's listing marks it "Temporarily Closed," while GLO30's own Henderson page shows hours and takes bookings, so a phone call before visiting is the safest bet.

Down the road at Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, the food court added one newcomer this year and announced another. News 3 reported on July 16, 2026, that Irv's Burgers had opened its third Las Vegas-area location there, serving burgers, fries, shakes and diner classics. Earlier, the Review-Journal's Neon section had announced Nielsen's Frozen Custard for a May 22 debut in the same food court, with custard scoops, sundaes, concretes, sodas and floats. That report came before the opening, so check hours before planning a stop after the tree lighting.

After the Last Market in December

The schedule turns once the year ends. The pedestrian bridge was scheduled for construction from Q2 2026 to Q2 2027, and the diverging diamond follows from Q1 2027 to Q2 2028, according to the project schedule. After the bridge is set, the Review-Journal reports that interchange work will bring a single lane overnight and two lanes plus turn lanes during the day at times. Remynse said the team will "try to limit the two-lane restrictions during the day as much as humanly possible."

That means the 2027 holiday calendar at The District will likely run during active interchange construction, and the 2028 calendar should be the first with the new interchange in place. The December 19 Makers Hive Market, the last event on the current listings, is the last scheduled event before overnight full closures of Green Valley Parkway to set the bridge in March or April 2027.

Roads, construction and access around Henderson's gated communities affect what a home is worth and how it shows, and the The Agency Las Vegas | Henderson team watches these projects closely.
